Nicole Schultheis is a licensed attorney (Maryland) and Certified Federal Job Search Trainer® and Career Coach®. She serves as a Program Director of The Resume Place’s SES 2-Page Resume and ECQ Interview Training. Nicole also helps individual SES candidates address OPM’s new Executive Core Qualifications and prepare their new, 2-page SES resumes, used by the hiring agency’s Executive Review Board and then, post-selection, forwarded for review as part of OPM’s new Qualifications Review Board (QRB) interview process.
Nicole uses her trial advocacy skills to help candidates prepare and deliver compelling answers to interview questions, sharing their leadership accomplishments orally in the required C-C-A-R (Challenge-Context-Actions-Results) format, while addressing the new ECQs’ sub-competencies during their structured interviews. Since 2010, Nicole has helped nearly 1,000 aspiring senior executives attain OPM certification, enabling them to take on senior leadership roles across the executive branch.
In addition to assisting individual candidates, Nicole has provided SES consulting and/or editorial services to DHS Human Resources, DHS Science & Technology Directorate, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Professional Development Center, HUD Office of the Inspector General Human Capital Management Division, and NIH Center for Scientific Review. She has trained SES leadership development candidates at the Environmental Protection Agency, the Naval Ship Yard in Washington, D.C. and the Air Force.

Sharon Jenkins Banks is a proven consultant and writer with more than 37 years of federal government experience. Sharon offers executive leadership consulting to both individuals and organizations. She coaches clients on SES applications and executive core qualifications, accomplishment development, and executive resume writing. As a former senior executive and adept consultant, Sharon’s expertise and insights are invaluable to SES clients.
In her federal career, Sharon served as the Deputy Chief People Officer and Director of Human Capital Management at the General Services Administration. She was also the Acting Regional Administrator of the National Capital Region and received recognition from President Barack Obama for her Region’s help with the Presidential Inauguration and Transition. As a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), one of Sharon’s accomplishments included overseeing the implementation of American Recovery & Reinvestment Act-funded construction projects throughout the National Capital Region.

Scott Bauer joined The Resume Place (RP) after a distinguished two-decade career in federal government service. Before RP, he was a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) and served as the Executive Director of Strategy and Operations at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), where his career was marked by a deep commitment to public service, servant leadership, and fostering environments where others could thrive.
Among his many accomplishments, Scott played a pivotal role on the leadership team, collaborating closely with career development and HR professionals at the Institute for Learning, Education, and Development (ILEAD) to advance the careers of Veterans and enhance the professionalism of a workforce of over 400,000. Prior to his work at ILEAD, Scott served as the Director of Human Capital Initiatives for the Department of Defense, where he led a once-in-a-generation acquisition workforce reform, impacting more than 185,000 acquisition professionals.
A graduate of the Department of Homeland Security SES Candidate Development Program (CDP), Scott is a strong advocate for helping others explore all pathways to the SES. His success is partly attributed to his talent for executive storytelling, a skill he now brings to the RP team to help government leaders advance their careers in meaningful ways. Additionally, Scott is a published thought leader in defense acquisitions and financial management.

Sarah Blazucki started writing and editing for The Resume Place in 2002. She has over 20 years of communications experience, with expertise in government agency communications, journalism, and publishing, including 15 years’ experience as editor. She has edited a range of print and online publications, including books, magazines, newspapers, reports, press releases, web and social media content and marketing materials. In addition, she has 15 years of experience writing resumes and narratives for federal and private industry job applicants.
Most recently, Sarah provided editorial, proofing and publishing support on Jobseeker’s Guide 10th edition, Federal Resume Guidebook, eighth edition, and Transitioning Your Federal Resume to Private Industry. Sarah spent 10 years working in U.S. government communications as a communications coordinator for a small office in the Department of Justice and as the agency editor for the Peace Corps. In her communications positions, Sarah oversaw editorial efforts at the agency and office levels; managed the development and publication of guidebooks, reports to Congress, and websites; and routinely advised and negotiated with senior leadership and agency offices on language use and accessibility issues.
Sarah obtained her J.D. (summa cum laude) and is a member of the D.C. bar. She has published two law review articles and served as managing editor of her school’s law review.
