Session 1: Ten Steps to a Federal Job®
Updated curriculum based on 10th Edition, Jobseeker Guide, Ten Steps to a Federal Job®. Updates with 2-page federal resumes, new methods of USAJOBS search, profile, and submission with new assessment questions.
Class activities: How Many Hats Do You Wear at Work? Keyword lessons on USAJOBS; introduction to the CCAR Accomplishment builder.
Session 2: Ten Steps to a Federal Job® continued and Federal Resume Coaching Lessons
Please send your resume or a client resume to the instructor for review and mark-up for recommendations. Send a sample job announcement also if possible.
Class activities: Using the 11 Point Checksheet, review a resume and give it a score; review a resume against a set of keywords; create a keyword list for one announcement to match the resume.
Session 3: Stars are Lined Up for Military Spouses® on USAJOBS
The NEW MILITARY SPOUSE FEDERAL RESUME, new information for military spouses with Executive Order 13473.
CCAR reviews and accomplishment writing: you will see how the CCAR can become a resume accomplishment live in the class. This demonstrates the importance of accomplishments for the federal resume, private industry resume, and interview preparation.
Session 4: Ten Steps to a Federal Job®, Teaching Practice
Class participants will be assigned a step, and attendees will teach the practice Ten Steps to a Federal Job® in 1.5 hours.
Each attendee will be assigned a step to teach and share the screen; demonstrate AI keyword search, accomplishment writing and editing, and other USAJOBS search procedures.
Session 5: HR Day Lessons, Charles Clark
Four important lessons on Federal Hiring for Federal Job Search Coaches. Federal Hiring and Veteran’s Preference, with Charles Clark.
Part 1: Merit System Principles; Prohibited Personnel Practices; Federal Hiring Reform and Federal Staffing Basics.
Part 2: Veteran’s Preference: Eligibility, Codes and when does it apply; The VOW Act, Helping Veterans Get to Work.
Part 3: Special Appointing Authorities for Veterans and Military Spouses; and Non-Competitive Hiring Programs for Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities under Schedule A.
Part 4: Other Hiring Flexibilities; Direct Hire Authority; 10-Year STEM Appointments; Pathway Programs; College Graduate and Post Secondary.
